I'm a documentary filmmaker based in Boston. I work mostly in documentary although I like to make an occasional fiction piece. I graduated from Boston University and studied the "nardoc" technique under Mary Jane Doherty, which I now practice professionally. The basic idea is to use fiction techniques to tell nonfiction stories. This means making your camera work and editing disappear so that the audience is only paying attention to the story that's unfolding in front of them. The other part of this technique is building a respectful relationship between filmmaker and subject. These types of films are collaborations and that's what makes them so exciting and meaningful to me.
If you're looking for someone to help you on your video project, I do freelance projects all the time. Get in touch with me and we can talk about how we can tell your story.
Outside of filmmaking, my most recent project was riding my Harley across America with Tara. We rode 8200 miles, camped every night and saw so many things we'd never imagined we'd see. We wanted to make a film about it but sometimes you need to do things just for yourself.
